ICEYE to Deliver ISR Capability to Royal Netherlands Air Force

Rafal Modrzewski on ICEYE ISR contract win in the Netherlands

ICEYE has won a contract to provide the Royal Netherlands Air Force with sovereign space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability. The company said the deal, announced Monday, lays the foundation for the Netherlands’ first operational military satellite mission and supports the Dutch government’s national security initiatives.

The agreement includes the delivery of four synthetic aperture radar satellites with a resolution of 25 centimeters, a local ground station and antenna, and a mobile artificial intelligence-enabled imagery intelligence hub. ICEYE will also provide access to data from its existing satellite constellation. According to the company, the first component will be delivered within four months after contract signing.

“By delivering this system at an unprecedented speed, ICEYE is ensuring that the Netherlands has access to objective, reliable and actionable intelligence,” ICEYE CEO and co-founder Rafal Modrzewski said in a statement. “As a European provider, ICEYE is ideally positioned to provide European nations with a common and capable asset for space-based ISR activities.”

The announcement follows ICEYE’s recent international expansion in Europe. Last month, the Finnish firm opened a new research and development facility in Valencia as part of a partnership with the Spanish government to enhance national security through SAR capabilities. in May, Poland awarded ICEYE a $224 million contract to deliver three SAR satellites, with an option for three more, along with mobile ISR platforms.
