Denmark has approved Kyiv’s request for its satellite communication terminals as part of a donation of satellite services to the Ukrainian armed forces, Defence Industry Europe reported Monday. The donation is being channeled through the European Defence Agency, the first time Copenhagen has tapped the European Union’s framework in donating regionally available satellite services to Ukraine.

The terminals will significantly enhance the Ukrainian military’s satellite communication capability, which is now critical for Kyiv’s defense operations against Russia, the report noted.
Sharper Focus on Space Domain
Commenting on the package, Danish Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen noted the growing need for a defense policy in the space domain. “There is a very large potential in space-based solutions that can contribute to both Ukrainian, Danish and European defense,” he said.
The EDA anticipates other EU members considering similar donations.
Besides its satellite communications services donation, Copenhagen announced in June that it is allowing Ukrainian defense firms to establish production facilities across Denmark. The initiative is part of an investment project to enhance Europe’s defense capabilities by sharpening interoperability with the Ukrainian armed forces.
